Honduras agriculture at risk due to lack of irrigation, climate change

Of the 15mn quintals (7,340t) of basic grains produced in Honduras, only 750,000 quintals, or 5% of the total, are cultivated using irrigation systems.

Consequently crop experts have warned that a potential drought in the country could result in a shortage of these grains, as was the case last year, local press reported.
