The mission statement of the Ministry of Environment, Foreign Trade and Export Development is to provide advisory in trade policy, environment management and export development to achieve sustainable development. Their priorities are focused on: promoting and facilitating exports with emphasis on product diversification and value addition; fulfilling obligations to regional and multilateral agreements in trade and the environment; initiating education programme and projects to achieve environmental responsibility; re-launching the Sustainable Development council; to participate in major trade fairs; enacting Environmental Management legislation; establishing Councils on Trade and Environment, and; implementing projects that address the ecosystem services. The Ministry also serves as the institutional focal point in the climate change communications.
