The Ministry of Environment is responsible for: formulate and implement, guide and enforce Government policy on environmental management; ensure sustainable use of the environment and natural resources, ensure the sustainable management of biodiversity and protected areas; ensure environmental conditions are conducive to a better quality of life and safety of the population; Protect, restore and enhance the natural heritage of the nation; accompany the Local Authorities in development activities in connection with its functions; ensure the regulation and control of any public or private action within its jurisdiction; promote environmental education and development of a national culture of protection and rehabilitation of the environment. The Ministry is the focal point for the UNFCC communications.
