UMI-IFAECI (Instituto Franco-Argentino sobre Estudios de Clima y sus Impactos) is an international mixed unit, jointly sponsored by CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique), National Council of Scientific and Technology Research of Argentina (CONICET) and University of Buenos Aires (UBA). UMI-IFAECI was implemented to strengthen France-Argentina scientific collaboration on a research agenda oriented to better understand, simulate and predict climate variability and change, as well as their impacts in southern South America and surrounding oceans. UMI-IFAECI research areas includes: climate variability and change in southern South America; statistical methods for climate studies; role of the Andes in whether and climate; numerical prediction and data assimilation; generation of climate information for application and adaptation; laser investigation and applications; South Atlantic studies; physical processes at meso-scale; analysis and simulations of the La Plata River.
