Support partner countries in implementing the Framework Convention on Climate Change, which aims to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG), and in adapting to the consequences of climate change.

Eligible Projects or Programmes:
a) Development and implementation of innovative project ideas for and with existing and new bilateral climate programmes. b) Systematic advice on including climate considerations in projects, policies and investment programmes. c) Carrying out policy relevant analysis and feasibility studies on selected climate-related topics. d) Promoting a climate policy environment that will facilitate the participation of partner countries in the CDM and in a mechanism for preventing deforestation. e) Developing and implementing national, sectoral and regional adaptation strategies. f) Advising on and implementing measures relating to reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD), sustainable forestry and reforestation.
